What we can offer

Whatever your background, experience and ambitions, we would be delighted to hear from you and introduce you to the game of crown green bowls and/or our Club.  If you decide to become a member, you will have access to the green and clubhouse throughout the season whenever it is not in use for a team fixture or hired out for the day.  Before you decide, why not come and have a go for free!

The Bowls Big Weekend is the perfect way to find out a bit more about us and say hello!

Have a go!

If you have never played crown green bowls before but would be interested in having a go:

We have a developing social section in the club and you would be made very welcome.

We have a number of experience players who would be delighted to get you started.

By the end of April 2025, one of our members will hopefully have completed a Level 1 Bowls Coaching Qualification.

We have a small selection of bowls you can borrow.

Have another go!

If you have played bowls previously but not much, perhaps a long time ago or flat green bowls and would like to have another go and try to improve:

We would be delighted to welcome you to our Club.  We will help you get reacquainted with the sport and encourage you to progress at your own pace.  If you just want to play socially, that's fine by us; if and when you are ready to play in a team, we have a number of teams of different ability levels to suite your situation.

Let's give it a go!

If you are an experienced player looking for a new challenge playing for a different club, we have lots to offer.

We have a good home green and teams in the Skipton & District Association which play singles matches on Tuesday (54321 league) and Thursday (merit league) evenings.

In 2024 our teams finished:

Tuesday A - Div 1 Runners Up

Tuesday B - Div 4 3rd place

Thursday A - Div 1 Champions

Thursday B - Div 2 6th place

Why play bowls?

There are lots of reasons why people play bowls.  Below are a selection of sites that explain some of the benefits, especially health benefits of participating in the sport of bowls.  For this purpose, crown green and flat green (lawn) bowls are very similar if not identical.
